RESIDENTS were woken in the early hours of the morning by a car fire in Farnworth.
Flames were seen issuing from a red Golf that was parked on a driveway in Fairfield Road early this morning (April 8).
A police investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the blaze.
The fire service will be visiting properties in the area today (April 8) to reassure residents. They are also offering Safe and Well talks, including the fitting of a free smoke alarm.
Steve Coote, Farnworth watch manager, said: "We were called at 4.30am.
"People had been asleep in bed. Residents had heard banging from the car due to the heat.
"The whole vehicle was burned but the house was not affected.
"We used a hose reel and breathing apparatus. A little bit of smoke got into the property and the smoke alarm sounded which raised the alarm."
