AN inquest has been adjourned into the death of a man who died in hospital three days after being found collapsed at his Bolton home.
Deputy coroner Alan Walsh said he wanted more information about Richard Cookson's treatment after he was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital on February 25.
Pathologist Dr Angelia Ong said he had suffered multiple organ failure but could not find any reason for it.
She told the inquest in Bolton yesterday she did not find levels of prescription drugs in Mr Cookson's bloodstream that indicated an overdose, but said that they may have contributed.
Mr Cookson, aged 37, was prescribed medication for schizophrenia, depression and diabetes. Mr Walsh said he wanted to find more information about the side effects of the drugs, as well as his treatment at hospital, before he tried to reach a verdict.
Mr Cookson was found collapsed at a flat in Albert Road, Heaton, by friend Glynn Marron and was taken to the hospital, where he was put on a life support machine.
A report from doctors said his kidneys and liver failed and he died on February 28, said Dr Ong.
Mr Cookson's mother, Joan Sandiford, said he took prescription drugs for asthma, schizophrenia and depression and was "erratic" in the way he took his drugs.
She said he had never expressed any intention to harm himself or take an overdose.
