DO you remember when Walker Fold looked like this?
Many readers of a certain age will recall venturing into the hills for a day out by the stream.
Among these pictures we see the culvert, known locally as the ‘cigarette tunnel’, which carries Dean Brook beneath Walker Fold Road.
The area was popular with campers and an ice cream van would be a regular visitor during the summer months.
Elsewhere, we see a picture of when part of Walker Fold Road collapsed into the Dean Brook valley in 1945, which required the embankment to be strengthened. What are your Walker Fold memories?
