TALENTED singer Rachael Green sang her way to third place – and host Peter Kay revealed that the 28-year-old was his favourite act when announcing the winners.
She entertained the audience with her take on Hit the Road Jack and a beautiful rendition of Prince’s Purple Rain, while playing guitar.
Rachael, who lives in Astley Bridge, said: “It was absolutely amazing, I’ve never experienced something like that before. “I’m known for, when I do gigs, taking songs and flipping them on their heads.
“I like mixing songs together. For my first song I did a medley of Hit the Road Jack and put some more contemporary songs in and I asked a group of my mates and they said Purple Rain.

“Essentially, I want to get all my music out there. It was shock, I didn’t realise I had got through.
“This gives you a massive confidence boost to be selected out of so many people who have applied and then to get to the final eight, especially as the other contestants are absolutely high calibre, it’s amazing.”

Rachael added: “I’m over the moon about getting to the final eight and it’s not every day you get to meet Peter Kay. He is an absolute hero.
“I was watching Jaiden warm up and just thought, there is no way I could do a roly poly, never mind what he was doing, and congratulations to him, —well deserved.”
