AMIR Khans’ fear of all things creepy and crawly reached ‘critter-cal’ mass in the jungle this evening while Jennie McAlpine found herself shedding a few tears.
The Bolton boxer was presented with his greatest fear on I’m a Celebrity… at the earliest possible stage – the series’ first bush-tucker trial.
Viewers selected him to take on the Criter-cal Rescue challeng along with Made in Chelsea’s Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo.
The trial took place under ground in a giant termites nest and saw Toff locked in a dark chamber while Amir had to find eight keys with which to unlock her.
He braved the bites of cockroaches, maggots and the bite of a mud crab as he faced his fears to retrieve keys from different holes.
But he was forced to retreat back down the tunnel and scream ‘I’m a celebrity…get me out of here,’ after pulling a snake out of one of the holes.
Failure to complete the ‘all or nothing challenge’ meant the whole camp would be dining on rations of rice and beans.
Afterwards Amir said: “I feel bad for the team because I really wanted to get some meal tickets but I just had to give up, it got so hard.
“This was my first Trial, I thought you’d take it easy on me, I’m scared of snakes.”
Host Dec said: “You really haven’t seen the show before, have you,” while Ant added: “We don’t take it easy on you.”
Meanwhile Bury actress Jennie McAlpine found herself bonding with stand-up star Shappi Khorsandi over their love for their children.
Talking in the Bush Telegraph, Corrie favourite Jennie said: “I really like Shappi a lot, me and her have both got little ones, her little girl is four and my little boy is three.”
And she began to get teary and upset as she continued: “We’re trying not to talk about it too much, missing home and the little ones.”
Jennie also took park in the day’s Dingo Dollar Challenge with Rebecca Vardy – eventually completing the challenge after numerous dunkings into grubby water from a giant roulette wheel.
And Bury-born Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas got talking football with ex-England star Dennis Wise during a conversation about when the camp mates first realised they were famous.
Prompted by Jamie, the former midfielder player said it was when Wimbledon sold him to Chelsea fro £1.6m back in 1990.
