A MAN was given a suspended prison sentence for assaulting a female and causing more than £3,000 of damage to a car.
Anthony Boyce, aged 40, of Nasmyth Street in Horwich, pleaded guilty to assault by beating and criminal damage when he appeared before Bolton Magistrates’ Court.
The events took place on September 30 in Bolton.
He assaulted the female and damaged a car window and bonnet of a car, to a cost of £3,100.
He was committed to prison for eight weeks but it was suspended for 18 months for the assault offence.
Magistrates found that the the offence was so serious it required a custodial sentence but suspended it.
He was ordered to pay compensation of £120, a surcharge of £115 and costs of £85.
There was no separate custodial sentence for the damage to the car but Boyce was ordered to pay additional compensation of £80 bringing the total owed to £400.
His guilty plea was taken into account when the sentence was imposed.
