A CHOIR is hoping to hit the right note in a national competition.
Bolton School’s joint Chamber Choir has entered the Barnardo’s National Choral Competition.
The choir has rehearsed the two contrasting pieces which they will record for their entry.
The choir is entering the senior age category, for young people aged 12 to 18.
Just six senior choirs will be chosen to perform in the finals, which will be held at London’s Royal Festival Hall next year.
The prestigious venue will also play host to an evening concert featuring all of the twenty-four junior and senior choirs selected for the finals.
Each choir will sing one of their competition pieces as well as joining in two massed choir items.
The two winning choirs will be invited to sing in one of the Barnardo’s 2018 Young Supporters Concerts, and Douglas Coombes MBE has offered to write a song for the winning choirs.
A spokesman for the school said: "The National Choral Competition is a wonderful and exciting opportunity for the talented young singers in the Chamber Choir."
