A PENSIONER had a special visit from firefighters today to have her wedding ring cut off.
The 75-year-old's finger had swollen up resulting in the ring she had worn for 54 years becoming far too tight.
Her husband had been to the Bolton North fire station to ask for the assistance.
She was unable to go to the station, due to mobility problems, so a crew went to her home in Moorside Avenue, Heaton.
It took the firefighters about 10 minutes to remove the ring using special cutting equipment.
Watch manager Pete Gray said: "She was fine afterwards. She said she was relieved and could feel her finger again."
