A 52-YEAR-OLD woman was taken to hospital after a pan fire smoke logged her home.

Firefighters were called to a first floor flat in Kingsfold Close, Breightmet, at about 4.15pm on Friday.

The alarm was raised by a neighbour and crews found the occupant in a ‘confused state’.

Smoke alarms in the flat were working but the woman had fallen asleep.

She was taken to hospital by paramedics to be checked over.

Firefighters used positive pressure fans to disperse smoke from the flat.

They were at the scene for about 45 minutes.

Watch manager Tony McKenna said: “It was a fairly straight-forward job. The fire was virtually out by the time we got there, we turned the cooker off and took the pan out. It was quite smoke logged in there.”

Firefighters will be revisiting the area to carry out home fire assessments to reassure residents.
