THESE pictures show an area of Bolton that, like many others, has changed beyond recognition in the fifty or sixty or so years since they were taken by a, then, Bolton Evening News photographer.
This is Folds Road in the late 1950s in the top picture and in 1964 in the other photograph.
How things have changed!
The road widening scheme which took place in 1971 caused the demolition of the little shops we can see on the left hand side of the lower picture.
At this time the area was a thriving little district which was not only home to business it was also a handy little shopping venue for local householders.
The top picture shows Folds Road looking from the Bolton end and we would imagine the scene is almost unrecognisable to some of our readers, particularly those of you born well after this was taken.
Times have changed throughout Bolton and it is particularly obvious in the town centre and surrounding roads.
