FROM giant butterflies to dancing in tutus – Bolton pride filled the town with colour and fun for the day.
Following last night’s vigil, events kicked off with the Diversity Parade which saw hundreds of people take to the street.
The parade, sponsored by Russel and Russel, had more than 500 people walking from Queens Park to Victoria Square donned in bright clothes and costumes.
In the town centre bands including Divina De Campo and Stooshe entertained crowds throughout the day, while greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham also took to the stage.
Pride organiser James Edgington said: "His speech was powerful and mindful and really got the crowd going. He said that Greater Manchester should get behind these type of celebrations in small towns show its support.
“He didn't just send a message of support, he came himself.
"The parade was so mind-blowing for me! We had more than double than last year.
"The bands were fantastic, everyone brought their A game to it so it was brilliant."
Events continue tonight with a Bck to the 90s night at venue Bar in Churchgate, featuring Phats and Small and Rowetta, and into tomorrow with a Community Expo in Victoria Square with games and stalls from 10am.
