A NEW healthy fast food restaurant is setting out to prove that healthy eating can also be tasty.

80/20 health bar and kitchen has opened on Blackburn Road, on the corner of Water Meetings Road.

The restaurant offers eat in and takeaway and serves healthy curries, wraps, burgers and more.

It is the brain child of husband and wife team Tahir and Mina Khan, who believe there is nothing like this in Bolton.

Mrs Khan is the head chef, working with a range of fresh spices and ingredients in the kitchen.

She said: “It is getting busier now as people are hearing about us and we’re open for breakfast now.

“We cook everything fresh. People are starting to appreciate the taste of the food. I use all my own spices. My background is pharmaceutical. I’m really into the health benefits of using healthy ingredients.

“I know it will be a success. Everybody wants to eat healthily.”

The restaurant also cells gluten free treats, smoothies, hot drinks and even makes its own water.

The new restaurant has taken on 11 members of staff.

It will soon start serving healthy pizza, meal kits for people to make at home and also doing cookery classes and yoga upstairs.

The aim is to provide healthy food for everyone, whether that be office workers or people after a gym in need of some food.

Reporter Alex Peace experienced what 80/20 has to offer

ON stepping inside 80/20 it is hard not to be impressed. It is clean and modern and everything is very well set out.
On approaching the counter to order you go past a range of healthy drinks and waters before coming to the order point. The easy-to-read menus are present above the tills and very helpfully display the nutritional values of the wide-range of dishes available.
Once people have ordered they can take a seat as they wait for their food to be prepared all fresh.
Then came the important bit, the eating.
I got the chance to enjoy the chicken tikka box meal, which comes with spiced vegetable rice and a coriander sauce.
The food definitely tasted fresh and was very very enjoyable as well as being filling, coming in a substantial portion.
Keeping in line with the healthy message, the boxes and cutlery I ate with were environmentally friendly and biodegradable.
