A BBC documentary series is delving into the murder of a Bolton grandfather whose body was dumped in a reservoir.
The second episode of The Detectives: Murder on the Streets aired last night and cameras followed DCI Sarah Jones as she investigated the disappearance and then murder of Darren McMinn (pictured below).
He was killed by Candido Pereira (pictured below), who then dumped his body in the reservoir.
Mr McMinn went missing on April 11 last year and Pereira was found guilty after a trial and sentenced to life in prison.
As well as looking at the investigation into the death of a homeless man in Manchester, last night's episode saw DCI Jones as she began to look into Mr Mc McMinn's disappearance.
He was reported missing in the days following and had not used his phone of accessed his funds at the post office.
As he was a drug user, officers started to investigate whether he was looking for illicit substances.
Police are then seen carrying out a search of Mr McMinn's house, carrying out raids on the properties where known associates live and also speaking to his family.
Phone evidence eventually leads them to Pereira, who is first interview as a witness and then as a suspect but denies killing him.
He states that he has been driving for drug gangs and if he starts naming people he could be murdered.
