FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle a chip pan fire at sheltered housing in Little Lever.
Crews from Bolton Central and Whitefield were called to The Haven at around 8pm on Wednesday to reports of the blaze.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the occupant had left the chip pan on and had gone into the other room before the cooker caught fire.
He had then tried to move the pan before dropping it.
The blaze was extinguished and there was damage to the floor.
The man was not injured.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire And Rescue Service urged residents not to deal with fires themselves but to get out the house and phone the fire brigade.
