PLANS to build a new housing estate next to one of Bolton’s oldest buildings will come back before a town hall committee tomorrow.
Last month, Bolton at Home was given permission to build 21 affordable homes at the old council depot off Park Road, Westhoughton — but only if it amended its designs to protect a neighbouring property dating back to 1609.
The applicant has amended their site layout plan by moving two of its homes a further metre away from the property at Higher Landedmans.
But Anita Jackson-Baratinsky, who lives at the historic property, is still unhappy with the proposal and councillors have requested a meeting take place to resolve the matter.
Town hall officers, however, are recommending that the council’s planning committee approve the new plans, as they conform with the request made at August’s meeting.
Also due to be heard at the planning committee meeting this afternoon is a plan to demolish a boarding kennels and disused agricultural buildings at a farm in Cox Green Road, Egerton.
A total of 24 letters of objection have been submitted over the demolition of the kennels and subsequent loss of employment at the site. The developer says that the kennels are due to cease trading when the site lease runs out in August, 2018.
