A CAR had to be pulled from a doorway after a crash in the early hours of this morning.
Firefighters were called to Nelson Street when a driver lost control of his car and slammed into a door of a flat neighbouring Tannery Hardware.
The Toyota Corolla came off the road and hit the front door of a private flat shortly before 3.20am.
The owner of the shop and the driver were on the scene when crews arrived but no one was believed to have been hurt in the incident.
Crew manager Phil Dearden said: “The driver of the vehicle was performing a three point turn in the yard of the building when their foot slipped off the clutch and the car lurched forward into the doorway.
“There was only superficial damage to the car but the glass on the door was all smashed and the doorway pushed inwards.
“We made a quick assessment of the damaged and checked the building to make sure it was safe. We then took the car handbrake off and rolled it out of the doorway.”
