TODAY’S Looking Back photograph shows an area of Bolton many of us will know and walk along almost every day.

This is Victoria Square in Bolton Town Centre pictured in 1964.

We see the monument as it looks today in the centre but the shops are very different today.

We wonder what was being built in the centre there!

Cleggs is clearly a clothing store but what other stores and shops do you recall?

|If we did not have the monument in the centre of the picture we could all be forgiven for not knowing where this is as we do not have cars driving in this area today and the entire square is pedestrianised.

We particularly like the way the couple walking along are taking a good long look at the inscription on the stone.

There are cars parked in Victoria Square — no doubt their drivers and passengers were doing a bit of shopping in Bolton. Do you have memories you would like to share?
