BOLTON’S pro-Brexit Tory MP has welcomed progress on a ‘historic’ piece of legislation which will end the supremacy of EU law in the UK.
Chris Green, who represents Bolton West, joined his fellow Conservatives and a handful of Labour rebels in supporting the EU (Withdrawal) Bill in a late sitting of Parliament on Tuesday.
Mr Green has called Labour’s opposition to the bill ‘irresponsible’.
He said: “This is a historic piece of legislation that will ensure that we have an orderly Brexit and I’m pleased to say it has passed this crucial stage, despite Labour’s plans to block it.”
The next stage of debate on the bill will be chaired by Bolton North East MP Sir David Crausby.
