THE number of unemployed people in Bolton rose by 55 in the last month.
New figures show that 5,735 people in the borough claimed unemployment benefits in August, 1,230 of which were aged between 18 and 24.
However, Linda Bailey, of Bolton Jobcentre Plus, said that the increase was down to the ‘ebb and flow’ of the employment market rather than any significant redundancies.
A jobs and skills fair is being held at Bolton College on Thursday, September 28.
Around 70 employers — offering approximately 3,000 job opportunities between them — are expected to be at the event. The jobs fair will run from 10am to 3pm at the college’s Deane Road campus.
