NEW homes could be built on the site of a disused bowling green.

Plans have been put forward to develop the land behind Erico’s restaurant, in Bradshaw Brow, for six maisonettes and three terraced houses.

In a planning statement sent to Bolton Council, the developer states that the derelict land would represent a ‘windfall opportunity’ for residential development in a ‘highly sustainable location being close to a range of local shops, services, schools and bus stops’.

It adds: “The site is in any event in private ownership and has not been used for in excess of 10 years due to a lack of interest in bowling use.

“The site is now extremely overgrown and the previous use has essentially been abandoned.”
