AN eagle-eyed reader snapped a unique view of the work going on to demolish a former Bolton dance hall.
Dave Walsh snapped this picture of the roof of the old Ikon building on the corner of Bridge Street and St George’s Street while he was staying at the nearby Holiday Inn hotel.
The former Palais de Danse is being demolished by owners the Moorgarth Group because it is in a state of disrepair.
Plans were to replace it with a hotel but the company says it is looking at more options.
Bolton Council confirmed that despite changes to the plans for the site, work to remove the old building could continue.
A spokesperson said: “Members granted consent for the demolition of this building at planning committee and as consent has been granted and there are no conditions preventing demolition it is proceeding.”
