AN accountant used his grasp of figures to land £40,000 by betting on tennis matches.
Scott Yem, from Bolton, scooped top prize in online sports betting service LeoVegas’ Summer of Tennis tournament.
The 30-year-old won a series of in-play bets against online competitors to take home the winning prize in the competition.
Mr Yem said: “This is the luckiest I have ever been. When I found out I’d won I thought it was a prank. I can’t believe something like this could happen to someone like me.”
But he admitted that working with numbers had given him something of an edge on the competition.
He said: “Being quite analytical did help in this competition, especially as I work in accountancy. But luck was a big factor.”
He is now considering taking some time off work and using his winnings to fund a road trip around the United States of America.
