A GANG of teenagers who went on a rampage have left a Bolton sports club picking up a pricey bill.
Bradshaw Cricket Club believes it may cost up to £1,000 to mend the damage caused by 40 older teens.
The gang vandalised specialist pitch covers and a 11-foot-high sight screen when they terrorised members of the club on Sunday night.
Police were called to the club in Rigby Lane but the youngster used the screen to create a barricade before running off.
Club secretary Mike Buckley said: "It will cost around £500 to £1,000 to mend, which is a little bit better than we first thought.
"The screen has stood up to it very well, basically there's some work to the wheels and a bit of straightening to be done. A couple of slats on the covers also need replacing.
"The club house is fine, we just needed to pick a lot of rubbish which they had left behind.
"We will have to live with it for now until the end of the season because we just don't have the time for repairs at the moment."
The 44-year-old found himself trapped in the club house, along with another club member, for around an hour after being confronted by the teens at around 8pm.
Believed to be aged around 16 to 19-years-old, the young crowds shouted abuse at the men and vandalised the club equipment before the police got through the improvised barrier.
CCTV footage of the incident is being used the investigation. The state-of-the-art security system was donated by Bolton-based Automatic Alarms in May following a spate of vandal attacks and break-ins.
The number of cameras has recently been doubled to help cover more ground as the club has been a target for antisocial behaviour and vandalism a number of times this year.
Mr Buckley adds: "There isn't a massive amount we can do about it. It would be very difficult to put a fence around the area and we really don't want to do that. We want it to be open to all.
"We don't mind kids coming down if they behave themselves and out their rubbish in a bin. It's when they start wrecking things, that's when we have a problem."
The club, which is run by volunteers, holds events throughout the year to raise funds for maintenance costs which will now help pay for the repairs.
