AN eye-catching floral display in the shape of a cross has been created to mark a church’s 300th year.
The ‘living cross’ at New Chapel United Reformed Church, Horwich, was made by secretary Maureen Swift, who filled the wooden frame with begonias and lobelia plants.
It was created to publicise the forthcoming flower festival, which takes place from Friday to Sunday to celebrate 300 years of worship at the church.
Mrs Swift said: “We wanted something to catch the attention of passers-by, and the living cross has certainly done that.
“When we put the cross up, and hung the previously planted pockets, we stood back and looked at it and realised we had created something a bit special.”
