MORE than a thousand homes were left without electricity last night.
The power went down just after 8.30pm in Westhoughton because of a fault in the Electricity North West network.
The company reported that 1,400 customers were affected in the BL5 area.

Engineers were sent out and the power was restored to all customers by 9.50pm.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and if customers would like any further information they can contact us 24/7 on 0800 195 4141, or the new national number 105, or follow us on Twitter @ElectricityNW.”
