PEOPLE are being reminded to take care in the kitchen after an unattended pan of food caught fire.
Three engines were called at 1.10pm on Saturday to reports of a kitchen blaze in Briar Hill Grove, Little Hulton.
Firefighters put out the fire and used a fan to clear the smoke from the property.
Nobody was in the house at the time of the blaze and there were no injuries but the cooker was damaged.
Carl Haslam, watch manager at Farnworth, said: "The house was full of smoke and we thought initially that somebody was inside but it turned out there wasn't.
"The smoke alarms were going off and we discovered the pan of food. It was extinguished and the property was searched.
"Obviously the message here is to never leave food on the cooker unattended."
