ROYAL Bolton Hospital has been unable to find the owner of three Second World War medals.

An appeal was launched last month to find the owner of the medals.

They had been handed into the cashier’s office in June after they were found in the hospital grounds.

The medals have now been returned to the Ministry of Defence who will now attempt to reunite them with their owners.

If they are unable to do this, they will hold them in the hope that the veteran or his or her next of kin applies for replacements.

When the appeal was launched, the hospital said that the medals will clearly have significant meaning for their owner and said that the hospital wanted to get them back where they belonged.

Medals can be replaced by the MOD if they are stolen or damaged in a flood or fire.

If you think the medals belong to you or your relative contact the MOD at MOD Medal Office Innsworth House, Imjin Barracks, Gloucester, GL3 1HW, 0808 1914 218.
