A FURTHER warning has been issued over a 'teenager' trying to gain access to people's houses.

As reported on Tuesday, Bolton at Home are warning people after an incident in Staton Avenue, Breightmet on Friday.

A man wearing a navy crew neck jumper with red detail attempted to access the property claiming he was in the area to check all houses for damp on behalf of Bolton at Home.

He was carrying no identification so the resident did not allow him access before reporting it.

Bolton at Home said it had no operatives in the area carrying out such work.

A woman has contacted The Bolton News to report a similar incident in Kearsley.

She said that her daughter was at home in Queensway with her partner and two young children when a man came to the door.

The man said he was there to check the property for damp on behalf of Bolton at Home.

She told the man that her dad was a builder and he carried out work around the house for him and refused to let him in.

The woman said that her daughter planned to report the incident to Bolton at Home and the police as soon as possible.

She said: “You don’t know what his motive is. That is what she said.

“One of her babies is 17 months and the other is six months. She said she would not open the door to people in future.”

During both incidents the man at the door was reported as being 17 or 18 years old and of foreign appearance.

A number of people posted on Facebook stating that they have received a similar visit.

Bolton at Home said it cannot confirm if it was the same man but asked residents to be alert.

A spokesman said that it has received three direct reports of the teenager trying to access people’s properties and that tenants are encouraged to ask for identification but if they are in doubt about a visitor who says they are from or representing Bolton at Home to call 01204 328000.
