A WARNING has been issued after two men knocked on the door of an elderly resident and told him they were selling drainage system.
Police are urging residents to be alert after the incident on Wednesday in Little Hulton.
At around 1pm two men knocked on the door of the 89-year-old-man tell him they were selling drainage systems and would like to access his home in order to carry out a small survey.
The man asked them for identification and they said they would go to their van to get some but never returned.
The resident thought this was suspicious so called the police.
A police spokesman said that the incident may be totally innocent and asked if the men are genuine to make themselves known so officers can close this as a false call of good intent.
One of the men has been described as white, aged in his late thirties to early forties and was wearing a grey suit and tie with a high vis vest over the top. He had medium build with black bushy style hair.
The second man was also white and aged in his fifties or sixties and was wearing dark clothing.
The home owner said that he thought both of the men had Irish accents and he did not get a description of the van.
If you have seen the men in your area or have a description of the van or a licence number, contact police on 101.
