STUDENT Khadijah Ismail’s career is already getting off to a flying start.
The Bolton School girl is being sponsored by BAE Systems to achieve her ambition to become an engineer.
She started building her career at school when she won the Arkwright Scholarship to provide students who are planning a future in engineering with a £600 financial award to be used to enhance their A Level studies. The scholarship are are awarded to those who have the potential to be future industry leaders in engineering and technical design.
As she was the only girl in the division to study electronics, she studied it at the boys’ division.
The 18-year-old who lives in Daubhill said: “The process was gruelling and out of 1,000 people only 50 were chosen.I can’t believe it. I will earn money and still go to university, but will have no student debt.
“I am ecstatic, I want to go into engineering and I won the Arkwright Scholarship when I was at school.”
