A MAN is in a serious condition in hospital after a hit-and-run in a supermarket car park.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance in the car park of Morrisons supermarket in Mornington Road, Heaton, yesterday at around 7.10pm.

On arrival, officers discovered a 50-year-old man had been involved in a crash with what is believed to be a two-door Volkswagen style car, which failed to stop at the scene.

The man was taken to hospital with extensive injuries where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police are appealing for any witnesses of the crash to come forward.

Detective Inspector Danny Brophy of GMP’s Bolton Borough, said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the car leaving the scene, could hold significant information to our investigation.

“Whoever is responsible for the man’s injuries fled the scene not knowing whether they could have cost a man his life.

“We need to find those responsible as a matter of urgency so please come forward.”
