TODAY’S Looking Back photograph shows a scene at a very interesting local school.
This picture was taken at Crowthorn School in Edgworth and it shows visitors taking a look at examples of the work completed by the children. They do not look too happy at the prospect of their handiwork being judged.
But it is delightful to see the children dressed in what looks like their Sunday best, with the little girl wearing her hat and the boys in smart shirts and ties.
It was obviously well before the days of the smoking ban, as the man on the right is puffing away at a pipe.
Crowthorn School was high on the moors of Edgworth and was once a children’s home. Famous Hollywood actress Shirley Anne Field grew up there. It was a lovely spot for the children to live.
