A FAMILY celebrated five generations by getting together for a photograph of the momentous occasion.
There is more than 90 years between four-month-old Roscoe Holton and his great-great grandmother Irene Howard, who is 94.
Irene raised her family in Horwich, working in the pub and hotel industry around Bolton, with her ex-partner Ronald Fletcher, aged 90.
Her daughter, Anne Holton, aged 70, organised the family photograph after Roscoe arrived late last year.
Anne, a retired wool shop worker, said: “I wanted to get a picture with five generations because it is rare. My grandson had his son Eric a year ago and it was then I thought we have to get a picture.
“But I never got round to organising it so when Roscoe came along I knew it had to be done.
“We’re all quite amazed that we have so many generations in the family and love it. It’s fantastic to be able to say we have a family of five generations.”
Anne’s parents were both keen golfers, Irene played at Horwich while Ronald played in Deane.
She added: “My mum’s remarkably well for her age, in fact she’s fitter than me.
“Unfortunately my dad hasn’t been so well so sadly missed the photograph, which is such a shame.
“My parents are very popular in Bolton and quite well-known. They were publicans in Bolton from when I was four up to 1966.
“They owned the Beehive in Horwich, Duke of Clarence and the Railway Hotel both in Bolton.
“Despite being separated and both having new partners, the whole family still comes together from time to time.
“We all try to meet up over Christmas but it’s not always at the same time. I took my mum to my sisters so she saw all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. It is great that we can all be together.
“It is always chaotic with there being so many of us. There’s the usual squabbles like with any family but we are all close which is nice.
“My mum is absolutely over the moon though, we think it's a lovely achievement for our family to make.”
The next generation down from Irene is her daughter June Stoker, aged 74, who lives in Horwich, followed by Anne, aged 70, who now lives in Chorley.
Anne's daughter is Susan Holton, aged 50, who lives in Preston, and her other daughter is Dian Haworth, aged 45, from Westhoughton.
Susan's son is Jake Marsh, who lives in Preston, and he has a son, aged one, called Eric.
Dian's son is James Holton, who lives in Bolton and works in the catering business, and finally he has Roscoe.
