CHRISTMAS wouldn't be the same without festive songs.
And in what is fast becoming a Bolton tradition, schools are creating their own seasonal youtube featuring those hit songs to wish everyone a very merry Christmas.
First to be released are those by Masefield Primary School in Little Lever and Beaumont Primary School.
Children can be seen giving Mariah Carey a run for her money as they sing and dance along to the hit song All I Want for Christmas is You.
This is the first time children at Masefield Primary School have starred in their own Christmas video, directed by Year Six teacher and deputy head Andrew Done.
He said: "I chose the song, but it was the pupils who came up with the dance moves.
"The parents just love it."
Every single one of the 37 year six children starred in the video which was filmed over a couple of days during breaks and lunchtimes.
Mr Done said: "The children even dragged me into the video.
"Year six is a difficult year but children can still have fun.
"The video was created to wish all the parents a merry Christmas, they really have loved it.
"Taking part in something like this helps to develop and instil confidence in the children.
"It also helps creates memories, they will always remember taking part in this."
Harvey Leech, who is in Year Six said: "It was really fun creating the video!. It allowed me to gain confidence in myself and give a present to all our parents at Christmas."
Classmate Lauren Tobin added: "We got to create all the different dance moves which was so cool. Everyone loved it, especially my mum!"
Releasing festive videos is now firm tradition at Beaumont Primary School, which has been creating the seasonal productions featuring its Year Six pupils
Nik Gandhi, Year Six teacher, said: "I've been making a Christmas video for three years now.
"We hold a special Christmas sing-a-long assembly where each class chooses a festive song and sings in front of the whole school. As I am quite the technology geek and love editing and producing videos for school, I thought for Year 6's song, we could produce our very own music video.
"It's a great way to showcase the community spirit that we try to build in what is a difficult year. The children love dressing up and then seeing themselves in front of the Christmas background."
Lucas Hogan, aged 11, said, "I really wanted to play the part of Mariah Carey at the very start of the song and so gave it 'my all' when we held a mini audition in class. It was really fun to dress up and pretend we were in our very own music video!"
Alaina Jiva, aged 11, said, "I've looked forward to producing our very own music video - it was so much fun to film and we were really pleased with the final video - we're crossing our fingers that it gets lots of likes on our YouTube channel."
