TWO cars were involved in a nasty rush hour crash at a busy town centre junction this evening.

There were significant delays in both directions in Bradford Street after the crash at the junction with the A666 at around 5pm.

One car, a Mazda 2, was partially blocking the road heading towards Bolton town centre and had suffered damage to the front of the vehicle.

Another car, a Vauxhall, had smashed into the traffic lights on the central reservation. A third car, an Audi, had also stopped at the scene of the collision.

One set of traffic lights broke off the post on the central reservation and ended up on the other side of the road.

Police were in attendance at the scene to clear the road of debris and move the Mazda out of the middle of the road.

Traffic was moving smoothly in both directions by 5.30pm.

Nobody is thought to have been seriously injured in the incident.
