BOLTON South East MP Yasmin Qureshi has been named by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn as the new shadow minister for justice.
Ms Qureshi, a former barrister, will serve under Richard Burgon, the shadow justice secretary.
Speaking on social media, she said it was an 'enormous privilege' to be asked to take up the new position.
Ms Qureshi added: "As a barrister in the CPS, private practice and at the UN I understand that Justice goes to heart of what we are as a movement, and the values we hold dear.
"It is the justice system that protects our freedoms, our rights, and helps hold our society together.
"I look forward to working with Richard Burgon and the team to hold the Tories to account.
Ms Qureshi, who has held the Bolton South East seat since 2010 backed Mr Corbyn in a confidence vote this summer, when many others aimed to remove him as leader.
