A HARWOOD resident has warned others about a potential bogus taxi scam.
Emily Siddall said she and a group of friends were were preparing to travel from a local pub into Bolton town centre at the weekend and had booked a taxi.
After being met by a large, white minibus that had arrived 15 minutes early, Ms Siddall said she was helped by a member of security staff at the pub to discover that the vehicle in question had not been ordered from the firm she had contacted.
Posting on the Harwood and Village Facebook group, she said: “After a little bit of digging the bouncer found out that the minibus was not for us, and was a fake, claiming to be from the local taxi firm, whose registration plates didn't match the vehicle and the vehicle didn't have a licence number on it.
“He reported this to the police and the local taxi firms. If we hadn't had that bouncer there, we could have very easily ended up on the way to town with a bogus taxi driver, which is pretty scary.”
