BOLTON School pupils are Oxbridge-bound after impressing admissions chiefs at two of the world’s best universities.
Eight pupils at Bolton School have been celebrating after receiving offers from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
Entry criteria for both institutions is notoriously tough. An outstanding UCAS application form is mandatory, as well as many subjects requiring additional examinations – and that’s even before candidates reach the tough interview stage.
However, Bolton School provides additional support to pupils facing the rigours of Oxbridge applications and interviews, and this year eight sixth formers were successful in their endeavours.
Four Boys’ Division pupils have received Oxbridge offers: Giri Nandakumar to study Medicine at Magdalene College, Cambridge; Alastair Ahamed to read Law at Somerville College, Oxford; Edward Sandford to study Geography at Oxford; and Dominic Walker to read Classics at St Benet’s Hall, Oxford.
Meanwhile, four Girls’ Division pupils also received offers: Eleanor Harding to study Medicine at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge; Constance Eyles to study German and Russian at St Edmund Hall, Oxford; Alexandra Hopkinson to read Classics at St Anne’s College, Oxford; and Amy Lyons to study Medicine at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford.
A Bolton School spokesman said: “This is a marvellous achievement for all eight pupils, and the school wishes them the best of luck in achieving the grades they need to take up their offers.”
