It is no secret that pubs have been closing at an alarming rate in recent years - be it the fault of the recession, smoking ban or cheap supermarket booze.
Following the news that the former Church Hotel, Crook Street, Bolton, could become a restaurant with offices above, we decided to take a look at Bolton's watering holes of yesteryear.
