A CAR and a van collided in Hunger Hill close to where two schoolgirls were run over four months ago.
The New Year's Day collision took place in Wigan Road at around 7.30am when locals were woken by a loud bang.
It happened near the spot where schoolfriends Lucy Harris and Charlotte Amadi were hit by a car on September 3 as they crossed the road.
Charlotte broke a wrist and dislocated an arm but her younger friend suffered serious head injuries and was kept in Manchester Children's Hospital for several weeks although both are back home now and are recovering.
In the wake of that incident the Hunger Hill community launched a campaign urging Bolton Council to introduce new safety measures although speed was not considered a factor in the accident.
Petition co-ordinator Christine Johnson, a retired bookkeeper of Knutshaw Crescent, Hunger Hill, said of this latest crash: "Will this be enough to convince the council that something needs to be done or will a blind eye be turned once more?"
It is unclear if the occupants of either vehicle were injured.
