A FORMER tutor of stabbing victim Carlton Alexander felt so moved by his death that he has set up a fundraising appeal.

Glenn Meads taught the 23-year-old — who had plans to operate a Caribbean takeaway out of a friend's sweet shop in Farnworth — at The Manchester College.

Mr Alexander died in hospital shortly after being found with stab wounds to his chest and abdomen.

Police found him injured outside his girlfriend's home in Brightmeadow Close, Breightmet, on Sunday December 13 at 4.15am.

Mr Meads contacted The Bolton News after reading the tributes paid to Mr Alexander, who was a father figure to girlfriend Keshia Seaton's three children.

He said: "Thank you for your sensitive coverage of the untimely death of Carlton Alexander.

"I am his former college tutor and was shocked by this tragedy."

Ms Seaton said her boyfriend had gained qualifications in road traffic management and had obtained his Construction Skills Certification Scheme.

Mr Alexander, who grew up and went to school in Leigh, was an aspiring rapper, a good cook and enjoyed going to the gym.

Mr Meads said: "Carlton was a bright, polite and humorous student, who was very keen on his sport.

"I really enjoyed teaching this smart student, as he was humble, got on with others and always seemed surprised by his good grades, as well as always showing that he had a good sense of humour.

"It was lovely to read how he had grown into a responsible young man.

"I taught him about six years ago at the Manchester College.

"I found his death so senseless and such a waste for his family and friends, that I felt compelled to do something.

"I have set up a Just Giving account in his name. And all money donated will go to The Prince's Trust to help young people like Carlton."
