CHILDREN missed a day of education when a burst water main closed their school.
Mains water supplies in the BL5 area of Westhoughton were disrupted by the leak in Manchester Road yesterday.
Customers had no running water or just a trickle and this forced The Gates Primary School in Bristle Hall Way to shut its doors to pupils for the day.
United Utilities said it sent an inspector out at dawn to report back and a team of engineers arrived on site at just before 10.40am.
They worked to repair the burst water main and the supply was restored later on in the day.
