ELITE LEAGUE ICE HOCKEY: Manchester Storm have signed American netminder Zane Kalemba to their roster for the 2015-16 season.

The 29-year-old from New Jersey arrives in Manchester after spending last season with Danish side Rungsted.

Kalemba played college hockey for Princeton University and won a host of individual honours in a four-season spell from 2006 to 2010.

Honours including being named on the First All-Star team in 2008-09, as well as recording the best save percentage and lowest goals-against figures.

He has since spent time in the ECHL and CHL, as well as stints in Europe with teams in Poland and Slovakia.

Storm player-coach, Omar Pacha, said: "He is a sound technical goalie. He moves really well in his net and never gives up on the play.

"Since coming over to Europe, he improved his overall game. He always works hard and is a great team guy.

"We had a number of goalies come up but Pete and I believed he was the best option for the team.

"I think he will be a top-end goalie and I am extremely glad he is joining the team."

Kalemba said: “I am excited and honoured to move to the historic city of Manchester and its great reputation of sports.

“I am looking forward to reigniting the hockey tradition of the Manchester Storm this season.”
