MATT Smith from Turton will join club-mates Aaron Gandy and Liam Ball in the quarter-final of the Bolton Golf Association Championship.
Smith was involved in a three-man play-off along with Steve Bryan (Old Links) and Michael Tunstall (Old Links) for the one remaining spot for the last eight tie at Turton on Tuesday.
It was all-square after four holes and Smith won it on sudden death with a putt on the third hole.
Last year’s winner Ball will face stern competition from Gareth Hastie of Bolton this year who is going for a fifth title to move level with Howard Broadbent in the hall of fame of winners.
They will be joined by Rob Taylor and Josh Ashton (both Bolton), Anthony Stirling (Harwood) and Aaron Watkinson (Old Links).
