Littleborough 30 Bolton 1st 12 BOLTON never recovered after being caught cold by two Littleborough two tries in the first 10 minutes.
They rallied manfully in the second half, but the damage had been done in the first period.
Bolton responded to the early scores when captain James Brodie scored a try which went unconverted.
But uncharacteristically, the Bolton defence went to pieces before the interval and they conceded two more tries. By the time the two teams changed ends the score was 25-5 in favour of the hosts.
Bolton were then rewarded for their improvement with a try in the corner with fly-half Rory Murray providing the extras.
It was too little too late for Bolton, with the score remaining at 30-12 in favour of Littleborough.
Bolton's final match of the season is on Saturday, April 14, as they look to put one over on league high-flyers Kirkby Lonsdale at Avenue Street.
Bolton 3rd fared much better than their 1st team colleagues, running out 41-5 winners at home to Tarleton.
The hosts dominated thanks to some intelligent territorial kicking from Guy Lovegreen. It allowed Bolton to work their way up the pitch and the forwards released the ball to Stuart Paul who beat two defenders to the line. The conversion was missed.
Phil Caswell added a second try under the sticks with a well-worked move and, thanks to the conversion, the score was 12-0.
Bolton increased their advantage when Steve Knibb powered over and Tarleton had not time to rest before the hosts were camped in their 22 again.
Skipper Paul Hunt made it 24-0 with a try and substitute Wayne Banks made his presence felt immediately rolling off the back of a ruck to cross after being on the field only five minutes and making the half-time score 31-0.
A lapse by Bolton in the second half allowed Tarleton to cross the line, before Bolton resumed their dominance to kill the game off with Caswell running in two more tries to complete his hat-trick.
Meanwhile, Bolton 4th came away from Leigh 6th with an 18-14 victory.
Bolton scores came from the boot of Ben Harwood and tries by Stuart Macdonald and James Dean.
Bolton Under-15s ran out 31-7 losers to Manchester Under-15s in the EFE U-15 Lancashire Plate Final, Bobby Bolton grabbing Bolton's points.
