ALTHOUGH no-one at Gigg Lane is counting their chickens just yet, striker Andy Bishop believes the confidence injection given to the Bury squad by Saturday's victory at Boston can see them safe of relegation.

The Shakers picked up their first win in 17 games thanks to Bishop's late strike, but head to one of the division's in-form sides in Shrewsbury tonight.

Gary Peters' side are unbeaten in 15 games and with games in hand on their rivals, the play-offs are looking more and more a likely prospect.

Bishop, however, has forecast that Bury can go on their own run, much like earlier in the season when a morale-boosting win at Lincoln on September 30 sparked an impressive run of results.

"Look what happened last time we went away and beat someone like this - we went on a six-game winning streak, and that's all we have got to think of now," Bishop said.

"If we carry on like that it will clear out all the doubts. If we win there, it will give us breathing room for the rest of the season."

Bury can open up a six-point gap on Boston who occupy the final relegation spot in League Two with victory tonight, but they will have to change a winning side with Chris Brass now ruled out with a groin injury.

The full-back could be out for the rest of the season - although he has not ruled out taking another painkilling injection in the injury which has blighted the second half of his season.

Chris Casper is likely to bring Richie Baker back into the side, moving Paul Scott into the back four. And the Shakers boss is certain his side can earn a result in their final trip to the Gay Meadow before Shrewsbury move to a purpose-built stadium next season.

"They are beatable, but we will show them the same respect as we showed Boston.

"If we get a result there, then the confidence will come back to the lads no doubt about it. We can finish the season on a roll."
