TWO men have today been arrested in connection with the killing of 30-year-old Keith Platt.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police's Major Incident Team and Bolton Division, supported by officers from the Tactical Aid Unit, executed warrants at three addresses in Farnworth this morning.
The men, aged 19 and 21, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody.
Searches of the houses will continue throughout the day.
Mr Platt was stabbed to death following an incident in Farnworth on Friday, March 16.
Chief Superintendent Dave Lea, of Bolton Police, said: "Violent behaviour is simply not acceptable on the streets of Bolton.
"Over the last few years, so much work has been done to tackle this issue to make this town a safe place to live and to go out at night, that I am determined to do everything in my power to take those people who insist on using violence and carrying weapons such as knives off the streets."
He added: "My officers have been working closely with detectives from the force's Major Incident Team who are investigating Keith's death and we will continue to do so until those responsible have been brought to justice."
*Richard Knott, aged 19, of Masefield Drive, New Bury, is to appear at Manchester Crown Court on June 14, charged with Mr Platt's murder.
A trial date has been fixed for September 10.
Daniel Walmsley, aged 20, of Buckley Lane, Farnworth, who is charged with violent disorder and two counts of assault, will stand trial with Knott.
An 18-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed pending further inquiries.
