A SPEEDING motorist collided with two oncoming cars and forced two pedestrians over a wall, a court heard.
Trevor Taylor was driving his Alfa Romeo along Wigan Road, Leigh, when he went round a corner on the wrong side of the road. He drove into the path of David Farrow in a Peugeot 206 forcing Mr Farrow to swerve, but the sides of the vehicles collided.
Taylor, aged 43, of Abbey Lane, Leigh, continued to drive, and, as he went round another bend the rear of his car went on to the wrong side of the road and struck another oncoming car driven by Joanne Ramsdale.
Simon Leong, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court the car behind Ms Ramsdale had to take evasive action by swerving. Two pedestrians, Darren Livesey and his girlfriend, heard Taylor's car behind them. Mr Livesey pushed his girlfriend over a wall and then jumped over it himself.
When arrested at the scene, Taylor was found to have 129 millilitres of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine. The limit is 107.
Taylor pleaded guilty to driving dangerously and with excess alcohol. He was sentenced to 10 months' imprisonment, suspended for two years, and disqualified from driving for four years. He was ordered to carry out 200 hours' unpaid work and pay £200 compensation and £350 prosecution costs.
