Comments from residents of Bolton.

  • Vicky Rushworth, aged 36, of Ladybridge, said: "The back streets are a bit of a mess but I don't think the main streets are as bad other than the chewing gum. I've seen worse places."
  • Edith Laurenson, aged 80, of Harwood, said: "It looks all right to me, I think they've done a good job in Bolton. But chewing gum is the bain of everybody's life, they need to bump up the price of it."
  • Maureen Worsley, aged 67, of Halliwell, said: "The town centre looks all right at the minute. "I think the council does quite a good job but we could do with a few more bins."
  • Stephen Bird, aged 59, of Breightmet, said: "Chewing gum everywhere doesn't look very nice, it needs steaming off. We pay enough council tax. It looks awful, it's just laziness."
  • Neil Gillard, aged 52, of Derby Street, said: "It's a mess, but I blame people using the town centre, not the council. They just seem to throw stuff all over the floor. However, there aren't enough bins."
