A MAN who admitted a string of offences including possesion of drugs and a knife, theft and trespass, has been given an 18-month supervision order.
Stephen Winnard, aged 31, of Briercliffe Road, Deane, was also told to attend drug rehabiliation for a year and ordered to pay £129 in costs.
Bolton magistrates heard how police found Winnard with the class B drug, speed, in a black spectacles case after arresting him for theft of DVDs worth £29.97 from WHSmith on January 11.
Mike Ardern, prosecuting, told how Winnard was then found by officers with two other men at a derelict mill off Bramhall Street on January 17.
He admitted he had intended to steal roof slates.
Then, at 2.20am on February 7, Winnard dropped an eight-inch knife from his rucksack as police approached him in St George's Road in Bolton town centre.
Adam Whittaker, defending, said Winnard had stolen the DVDs to fund his drug habit and had not intended to use the knife unlawfully.
